The new DuraCedar© post and optional rail system combines the rot resistance and beauty of western red cedar with the longevity properties of pressure treated lumber. DuraCedar© starts with superior Canadian “old-growth” heartwood western red cedar and then is treated with Durezyme©, a clear, rot resistant and eco-friendly treatment. The Durezyme© treatment is applied to the western red cedar lumber using a pressure application process.
DuraCedar© looks, acts, and accepts stain like red cedar because it is red cedar. DuraCedar©  combines the beauty and stability of western red cedar with the rot resistant properties of pressure treated lumber, while avoiding most of  the problems associated with pressure treated lumber; such as warping, twisting, checking and discoloration.

Pressure treated with enviro-friendly treatment whose components are found naturally in our environment.  Non-toxic.

Longer lasting fence without the poisons or carcinogens found in chemically treated pine posts.

Natural Cedar Smell (Odorless)

Petroleum based treated pine posts give off an offensive chemical smell.
Natural Cedar Color. Maintains the natural aesthetic appeal of cedar. Works well with clear, semi-transparent stains, or solid stains.

Treated posts can be stained to match perfectly with the untreated boards. Treated pine posts are either green or blotchy petroleum based color, and neither can be stained to exactly match the cedar boards.
Old growth cedar has a minimal chance of warping, cracking and checking; all properties inherent to treated pine. The superior rot resistancy of cedar is enhanced by Durazyme© treatment.
Less maintenance and reduced warping and checking to maintain the high quality look much longer. Pine is not rot resistant and can fail if treatment fails or penetration not uniform.
Non-Corrosive

Will not corrode metals such as gate hardware, nails, hangers, etc.  Chemically treated pine posts will.
